Taking Care Of Your Direct To Garment Apparel
To keep your custom pieces looking their best, follow these care instructions to protect both the print and the fabric over time.
Washing Guidelines
- Always turn garments inside out before washing to protect the design from friction and wear.
- Wash in cold water using a gentle cycle to preserve color and fabric quality.
- Use mild detergent—avoid bleach or any harsh cleaning agents.
- Do not use fabric softener, as it can break down the ink and affect the look and feel of the print.
- Wash with similar colors to avoid unwanted dye transfer.
Drying Instructions
- Air drying is ideal for maintaining the integrity of the print.
- If you choose to machine dry: make sure to chose the air dry setting or dry on the lowest heat setting
Ironing Precautions
- Turn the garment inside out before ironing.
- Use a low heat setting (or synthetic).
- Do not iron directly over the printed area—place a cloth or towel over the design if ironing is necessary.
- Avoid steam, as moisture can weaken the print over time.
What to Avoid
- No bleach. It can damage the fabric and fade the design.
- No high heat drying, which can cause prints to crack or fade prematurely.
- No dry cleaning. The chemicals used can break down the ink.
- No fabric softener. It interferes with the ink and can reduce the vibrancy of the print.
By following these steps, you’ll extend the life of your DTG-printed apparel and keep it looking as bold and clean as the day you got it. Need help or have questions about garment care? We're here to assist.
